Governor’s Office Awards $3.4M to Support Arizona AmeriCorps Programs

PHOENIX — The Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family (GOYFF) has awarded approximately $3.4 million in grant funding to 16 Arizona programs to engage AmeriCorps members in addressing critical community needs. Each year, AmeriCorps members significantly impact communities across Arizona. During the past year, over 26,000 children and youth received much needed educational and social support; more than 330 individuals received job training and placement services; 1,200 Arizonans received independent living support; and over 1,000 veterans, active duty military, and their families were supported by AmeriCorps members.

AmeriCorps grant funding will be used to assist programs in Arizona's urban, rural, and tribal communities to build capacity to deliver a variety of proposed grant interventions; from tutoring/mentoring, to helping individuals secure employment, to implementing wildfire mitigation strategies.

In May 2021, the Corporation for National and Community Service allocated over $2.5 million to 8 Arizona organizations to support critical service efforts focused on improving lives, strengthening communities, and fostering civic participation through service and volunteerism. These subgrantees are supported by GOYFF.

The funds awarded under this Request for Grant Application (RFGA) are federal funds allocated to the Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family, and were made available by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), dba AmeriCorps. The grant is pursuant to the authority of the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act (42 U.S.C. §12501 et seq.) and the implementing regulations at 45 C.F.R. Chapter XXV and is subject to the requirements, terms, and regulations of this statute.
