PHOENIX — The Governor's Office of Youth, Faith and Family has awarded $900,000 in grant funding to six Arizona programs to expand substance abuse education and prevention efforts for current or former foster youth and their caregivers. Funding will be used to support programs in Arizona’s urban, rural and tribal communities to combat alcohol and marijuana use and abuse by current or former foster youth ages 9-20 through a variety of prevention and early intervention methods.
"Arizona is committed to fighting substance abuse and ensuring Arizona foster youth receive the support and resources they need to remain healthy and strong," said former Director Maria Cristina Fuentes. "This funding is critical to expanding substance abuse outreach, education, and prevention efforts and will have a substantial impact on communities statewide."
