State Opioid Response (SOR)

The State Opioid Response (SOR) grant is awarded through the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) and administered by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA). SOR aims to address the opioid crisis by increasing access to Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), reducing unmet treatment needs, and addressing opioid overdose-related deaths through the provision of prevention, treatment, and recovery activities.

GOYFF supports the continued service enhancements and implementation of best practices related to addressing the full continuum of care related to opioid misuse, abuse and dependency by distributing approximately $4.1 million to partnering agencies to aid in the development of state, regional, and local level collaborations. Target populations include: individuals reentering the community from correctional settings, individuals in rural and isolated areas, individuals experiencing homelessness, tribal populations, veterans, military service members, pregnant women, and individuals who have experienced trauma.

SOR funding is also used to expand Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) across Arizona. Prevent Child Abuse Arizona has partnered with a variety of providers who are working with parenting groups that include: parents who are/have been incarcerated, parents receiving services for intimate partner violence, and/or caregivers who have received services through the Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS).
