Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, visitation at long-term care facilities was limited to help protect residents from potential exposure. Arizona knows that contact with loved ones is vital to the residents and family members. As such, former Governor Doug Ducey established the Task Force on Long-Term Care to develop recommendations and benchmarks for gradually re-opening visitation and to ensure proper protocols are implemented. Task force members included operators of various facility types, family members, advocates, and government officials.
The Task Force was established to complete the following:
- Make recommendations about how and when in-person visitation can safely resume at long-term care facilities, assisted living facilities, and ICFs.
- Make recommendations on how best to keep families informed about their loved ones in long-term care facilities and assisted living facilities.
