PHOENIX—The Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family (GOYFF) has awarded approximately $5.3 million to 13 Arizona organizations to engage AmeriCorps members in addressing critical community needs. Funding will help programs in Arizona’s urban, rural, and tribal communities improve their ability to offer a variety of services, such as tutoring/mentoring, employment assistance, and implementation of wildfire mitigation strategies.
“Service and volunteerism isn’t separate from reaching our priorities; it’s integral to achieving them,” said the GOYFF Director Tonya Hamilton. “Arizona is grateful for the extraordinary sacrifices of individuals dedicated to improving our communities and the lives within them. I look forward to awardees expanding Arizona’s network of service and volunteerism statewide.”
AmeriCorps members make a significant impact on communities across Arizona every year. In the last program year (September 2023-August 2024), they provided essential educational and social support to nearly 79,000 children and youth; maintained over 1,800 acres of public land and more than 200 miles of trail; assisted 600 older Arizonans in living independently; and supported over 800 veterans, active-duty military personnel, and their families.

In May 2024, the AmeriCorps federal agency announced approximately $6.5 million awarded to 13 Arizona organizations through the National Competitive and Public Health AmeriCorps funding. This funding is in addition to the State Formula allocation and increases support of critical service efforts that improve lives, strengthen communities, and encourage civic engagement through volunteerism. The GOYFF manages these funds to ensure they effectively benefit Arizona’s communities.

The monies awarded under this Request for Grant Application (RFGA) are federal funds allocated to the GOYFF and were made available by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), dba AmeriCorps. The grant is pursuant to the authority of the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act (42 U.S.C. §12501 et seq.) and the implementing regulations at 45 C.F.R. Chapter XXV and is subject to this statute's requirements, terms, and regulations.
