PHOENIX — The Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family (GOYFF) has awarded approximately $1.2 million to 13 Arizona organizations to expand sexual assault intervention efforts and increase support for victims of sexual assault. The funding will support programs in Arizona’s urban, rural, and tribal communities that provide core services, direct intervention, and related assistance to victims of sexual assault. Services include, but are not limited to, dual programs that offer sexual violence and domestic violence intervention, medical assistance, support within the criminal justice system, and establishing a robust social support network.
“Arizona is dedicated to expanding sexual assault intervention efforts and strengthening victim services to better support and protect Arizona communities, families, and children,” said the GOYFF Cabinet Executive Officer (CEO) Tonya Hamilton. “I look forward to seeing the positive impact from awardees to provide community-based support for sexual assault victims and survivors statewide.”

The SASP grant is funded federally by the US Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women (OVW). It is the first federal funding stream solely dedicated to the provision of direct intervention and related assistance for victims of sexual assault. By design, SASP funds supplement other funding sources directed at addressing sexual assault on the state and territorial level.
