PHOENIX — Governor Hobbs has proclaimed February 2025 Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month to recognize Arizona's commitment to providing training and outreach to community members, schools, and families about healthy relationships among young people.

WHEREAS, teen dating violence affects all communities, regardless of race, gender, socio-economic status, religion, nationality, or sexual orientation; and
WHEREAS, teen dating violence is an adverse childhood experience that affects millions of young people in the United States; and
WHEREAS, 1 in 3 United States teen's will experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse from someone they're in a relationship with before becoming adults; and
WHEREAS, nearly 1 in 9 female teens and 1 in 11 male teens reported experiencing physical dating violence in the last year; and
WHEREAS, approximately 1 in 11 female and 1 in 33 male high school students report having experienced sexual dating violence in the last year; and
WHEREAS, experiencing an unhealthy or abusive relationship as a teen can increase a young person’s risk of facing violence in intimate relationships throughout their lives; and
WHEREAS, about 16 million women and 11 million men who reported experiencing intimate partner violence in their lifetime said that they first experienced it before age 18; and
WHEREAS, Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month (TDVAM) is a national effort aimed at breaking the cycle of violence by urging young people and their loved ones to come together to raise awareness; and •
WHEREAS, the Governor’s Youth Commission raises awareness about healthy relationships among young people in Arizona through education and outreach efforts to further prevent dating violence; and
WHEREAS, it is important to continuously raise awareness in local communities, schools, and with family members to help them recognize when youth are exhibiting signs of dating violence; and
WHEREAS, supporting healthy, nonviolent relationships can reduce teen dating violence and prevent its harmful, long-lasting effects on individuals, their families, and their communities.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Katie Hobbs, Governor of the State of Arizona, do hereby proclaim February 2025 as
TEEN DATING VIOLENCE PREVENTION AND AWARENESS MONTH
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to
